10 Best Dog Parks & Off-Leash Beaches in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast

Who let the dogs out?! As it continues to warm up in Brissy, it’s time for you and your pooches to cool off. So throw on the shades, remember the sunblock and make your way down to one of Brissy’s best dog-friendly beaches!

Brisbane Dog Parks and Off-Leash Beaches

1. Colmslie Recreation Reserve Off-Leash Dog Park

Take your pooch for a paddle in one of Brisbane’s most convenient off-leash dog parks located in Morningside. Even if you’re located on the west side, Morningside is a convenient swim spot for all Brisbanites.

2. Nudgee Beach

If you’re after a wetlands kind of scenery, Nudgee Beach is perfect for you. Surrounded by mangroves and filled with birds, your dog will be in puppy heaven at this off-leash beach. (Just be careful the crabs don’t nip!)

3. Raby Bay Foreshore Dog Off-Leash Beach

If your pup isn’t up for the big waves yet, give Raby Bay Foreshore a whirl. This park is perfect for those who prefer a paddle rather than a splash. Make a day of it and bring a picnic set and enjoy the sunset while your pooch cools off.

Gold Coast Dog Parks and Off-Leash Beaches

4. Southport

At the Spit peninsula, your pooch will be spoiled for choice. Whether they’re after waves or still water, you have the choice of the surfside or the protected cove to enjoy.

5. Palm Beach

If you’ve got a big dog that needs a big area, Palm Beach is definitely the spot for you! Dog park paradise begins at Currumbin Creek (where there is also a delicious dog-friendly cafe!) all the way around to the surf of Palm Beach. You can bet your pooch will sleep like a baby after a day at this beach.

6. Tallebudgera

If it’s tranquillity you’re after, there’s really no better spot than Tallebudgera. You can enjoy the gorgeous backdrop of Burleigh Heads whilst your pooch enjoys the flagged off-leash area. It’s perfect for everybody!

Sunshine Coast Dog Parks and Off-Leash Beaches

7. Sunshine Beach

Nestled beside the beautiful Noosa National Park is one of the most picturesque dog parks around. Take your pup for a beach day during the weekend and they’ll be sure to make a bunch of new friends!

8. Noosa Beach

Not far from the Sunshine Beach dog park is another park equally as beautiful at Noosa Beach. If you’re after bushland, white sand and crystal clear water, this is the park for you.

9. Buddina

For dogs that run like the wind, this large stretch of sand and surf is perfect. At Buddina, you’ll find gorgeous views of the Beacon Lighthouse as well as the foreshore park.

10. Mudjimba

Mudjimba is labelled as arguably the most beautiful slice of paradise for dogs. You’ll find lots of white sand and the occasional rock pool to explore together. Need any more proof? You’ll just have to check it out for yourself!

Tips for Visiting Dog Parks and Off-Leash Areas

While we love dog parks and off-leash areas it’s important to consider the health and safety of your pet and do some due diligence before you let them loose. Here are some quick tips:

Check the area for hazards: This could be baiting, glass, broken shells etc.

Monitor other dogs and their owners: Are they running around unsupervised? Are the owners keeping an eye on their pet and their behaviour?

Make sure your dog will come back: It seems simple but it’s very important. Make sure you’re confident your dog will come when called, otherwise just go with an extra-long leash along the beach.
